Taylion San Diego Academy Holds First College & Career Night of the School Year

Taylion San Diego Academy, a local public charter school with locations in San Marcos, Vista and Vallacito, held its first College & Career Night of the new school year at their San Marcos location this October. The night was a way to inform and connect students to a variety of educational options in North County.

Student Ambassadors from MiraCosta College and Palomar College presented to students and parents regarding their respective schools, the various programs that are offered, resources available, and what campus life looks like at their campuses. Topics discussed included deciding between a two year Associates Degree program, a two year transfer to UC/Cal State institution, or going directly to a four year program, financial aide and more. The Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos presented as well, as they had a presentation regarding their services, including academic counseling, which helps students to plan for and succeed in life after high school.

Concurrent enrollment is another topic that was covered, which Taylion Academy holds in the highest regard. Many past Taylion graduates were concurrently enrolled at a local college while working towards their high school diploma at Taylion, allowing for students to get a head start in the next step of their educational journey.

“This was a great night,” said Benoni Pantoja, Director for Taylion San Diego Academy. “Thanks to the colleges that attended, we were able to show our students and families some of the educational pathways that await them, right here in their community.”
