Taylion High Desert Academy Kicks Off Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive

By March 24, 2020No Comments

Taylion High Desert Academy (THDA) kicked off its annual Thanksgiving Food Drive on November 1st, as the school aims to help provide a holiday meal to families in need.

“Our students want to give back,” said THDA Principal Evelyn Sandoval. “With this food drive, our students help serve a holiday meal to Taylion families in need every year. We are excited to once again launch this drive and help during the holiday season.”

This will be the seventh school year Taylion has held their food drive for the holiday season. Since 2013, Taylion has provided an entire Thanksgiving meal to 56 Taylion Academy families in the High Desert. Donations are being accepted at all three THDA locations until November 21st. Donations will then be divided into gift boxes. The goal is to include enough food to serve a family a complete holiday meal with each box. Gift boxes will be delivered to families during the week of Thanksgiving by THDA staff members.

Items in need include: can openers, canned vegetables, chicken broth, chicken stock, canned gravy, canned cranberry sauce, boxed potatoes, cookie mix, pie crust, pie filling, boxed stuffing, boxed biscuit/cornbread mix, cake mix, juices, boxes, and main courses (turkey, chicken, ham, etc).

Donation boxes can be found at the Victorville, Adelanto and Highway 395 Taylion High Desert Academy locations. For more information, contact Senior Outreach Coordinator Nolan Smith at nolan.smith@taylion.com or by phone at (760) 843-6622.
